Scholarly & Legal Disclaimer

Important Limitations of Mioo

Mioo provides educational content and computational tools. It does not provide fatwas, financial advice, or legal counsel. Please read this page carefully.

The information on this website is provided for general educational purposes only and is not a substitute for personalized guidance from a qualified scholar or licensed professional.

1. Not a fatwa

Islamic finance rulings (fatwas) can vary based on specific circumstances, local context, school of jurisprudence (madhhab), and the particular details of a case. The content on Mioo reflects general scholarly positions drawn from classical and contemporary sources, but it is not a personal fatwa for your specific situation. For any matter of religious obligation — especially in cases involving chronic illness, large estates, blended families, business partnerships, or complex investments — you must consult a qualified scholar (mufti) who can examine the specific details of your case.

2. Not financial advice

Nothing on this website constitutes investment, tax, accounting, or financial advice. Our Hajj/Umrah cost estimates are indicative figures for general planning only and do not represent quotes from any travel operator. Our Nisab thresholds depend on current precious metal prices, which fluctuate constantly; we provide indicative values that you should verify with your local market before relying on them for a Zakat calculation. For personal financial decisions, consult a licensed financial advisor who understands both your jurisdiction and your personal circumstances.

3. Not legal advice

Islamic inheritance (Faraid) calculations provided by our calculator reflect the religious distribution of an estate. They do not address how this distribution should be implemented under the secular law of your country of residence. Many countries have forced heirship laws, community property regimes, or probate procedures that may modify or override a purely Islamic distribution. In some countries, an Islamic will must be drafted in a specific form to be legally enforceable. Always consult a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction to draft or validate your will and estate plan.

4. Calculator accuracy

Our calculators are designed to faithfully implement the methodologies described in our articles. However:

Always verify calculator outputs manually using the formulas provided in our articles. If you discover an error, please report it to us so we can correct it.

5. Scholarly differences

Where the four Sunni schools of jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali) differ, we present the majority view as the default in our calculators and note the alternative opinions in our articles. This is not an endorsement of any particular school over another. We encourage readers to follow the school of their family or community tradition, and to consult scholars of that school for personal rulings.

6. Currency and pricing

All currency conversions, package price estimates, and Nisab calculations on this site are based on indicative rates at the time of writing or calculation. They do not account for transaction fees, exchange rate spreads, or regional price variations. For Zakat calculations involving foreign currency holdings, use the exchange rate applicable on your Zakat anniversary date.

7. External links

Our articles link to external scholarly sources, fatwa archives, and regulatory documents. We have reviewed these sources at the time of linking but do not control their ongoing content. A link to an external source does not constitute endorsement of every position taken on that website.

8. No liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mioo, its authors, editors, and consulting scholars are not liable for any financial loss, religious consequence, legal penalty, or other harm arising from the use of our calculators, articles, or any other content on this website. The responsibility for verifying calculations, consulting scholars, and making final decisions rests entirely with the user.
