This Editorial Policy documents how Mioo researches, writes, reviews, and maintains its content. It exists to ensure our calculators and articles meet the highest standards of accuracy, originality, and scholarly integrity — and to give our readers full transparency into our process.
1. Mission & Scope
Mioo produces original Islamic finance and worship calculation tools, alongside educational articles explaining the methodology behind them. Our scope covers Zakat, Fidya, Kaffarah, Hajj and Umrah savings, Islamic inheritance (Faraid), Zakat al-Fitr, Qurbani, Sadaqah, and adjacent topics in Islamic finance. We do not issue personal fatwas, political commentary, or content outside this scope.
2. Originality — No Scraping, No Rewriting
Every article on Mioo is original content written specifically for this website. We do not scrape, spin, or rewrite content from other websites, blogs, forums, or AI tools. Our editorial team writes from primary sources and classical references, synthesizing material in our own voice.
If we reference a Hadith, Quran verse, or scholarly opinion, we cite the source directly (e.g., "Sahih al-Bukhari 1936" or "Surah An-Nisa 4:11") rather than paraphrasing a secondary source. This ensures both accuracy and verifiability.
3. Source Hierarchy
Our content follows a strict source hierarchy:
- Primary sources — The Quran and authenticated Hadith (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasai, Ibn Majah, Malik's Muwatta, etc.)
- Classical fiqh manuals — Reference works of the four Sunni schools, e.g., Al-Mughni (Hanbali), Al-Majmu' (Shafi'i), Al-Hidayah and Fath al-Qadir (Hanafi), Al-Mudawwana (Maliki)
- Contemporary scholarly works — Fatwa collections from recognized bodies (OIC Fiqh Academy, Al-Azhar, Dar al-Ifta, etc.) and qualified contemporary scholars
- Established academic and reference works — For historical, economic, and legal context
For each significant claim, we cite the source inline. Where scholars differ, we present multiple positions fairly.
4. Madhhab Representation
Mioo represents all four Sunni schools of jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali) with respect and accuracy. We do not promote one school over another. Where a calculator or article uses a specific madhhab's position, we clearly label it. Where the four schools agree, we note the consensus (ijma'). Where they differ, we present the differences transparently.
For example, our Zakat calculator notes the Hanafi preference for silver-based Nisab and the alternative gold-based position favored by some contemporary scholars. Our Faraid calculator notes the core shares agreed upon across schools and explains the differing positions on special cases.
5. Review Process
Every calculator and substantive article passes through these stages:
- Research & drafting by an editorial team member with both writing skill and Islamic studies background
- Source verification — every Quran reference, Hadith citation, and fiqh attribution is checked against primary sources
- Technical review — calculator logic is tested with multiple inputs and validated against hand-computed examples
- Scholar review — substantive religious content is reviewed by qualified scholars (ulema) for accuracy of methodology and representation
- Editorial polish — final review for clarity, structure, and accessibility for general readers
6. Updates & Maintenance
Islamic finance touches on real-world values that change over time. Our update schedule:
- Quarterly: Metal prices (gold/silver), regional Fidya rates, Hajj/Umrah package cost estimates
- Annually: Comprehensive review of every article and calculator for continued accuracy
- As needed: Corrections made promptly when errors are identified by readers or our review process
Substantive updates are noted in the article with a "Last updated" date. Minor typo or formatting fixes do not change the update date.
7. Correction Policy
We take correction requests seriously. If you believe any content on Mioo contains a factual, methodological, or attribution error, please email contact@mioo.site with:
- The specific article or calculator URL
- The exact statement you believe is incorrect
- The correct information with supporting primary source citations
- Your name and any relevant credentials (optional but helpful)
We investigate every correction request within 14 days. Verified corrections are made promptly and the article's "Last updated" date is revised. Significant corrections include an editorial note explaining what changed and why.
8. Conflict of Interest
Mioo is editorially independent. We do not accept paid placements, sponsored articles, or affiliate commissions that could influence our content. Advertising (if displayed) is clearly separated from editorial content and does not affect what we write or how we rate tools and services. Our editors do not hold positions in companies whose products we might review.
9. Accessibility & Readability
We aim to make Islamic finance accessible to every Muslim, regardless of educational background. Articles are written at a general-adult reading level, technical terms are defined when first used, and complex calculations are explained step-by-step. We support bilingual presentation (English + Urdu) where it serves our readers, starting with the Faraid Inheritance Calculator.
10. Reader Feedback
We welcome constructive feedback on any aspect of our content. Use our contact form to share suggestions, topic requests, or correction notices. Reader feedback directly shapes our editorial calendar and helps us improve.
11. Content Licensing
Original Mioo content is copyright of the website. Brief quotation with attribution and a link back is permitted. Full republication, in any form, requires written permission. Contact contact@mioo.site for inquiries.
