Terms of Use

Last updated: July 2025

Welcome to Mioo. By accessing or using our website at https://mioo.site (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

Mioo provides free, browser-based Islamic finance calculators and educational articles on topics including Zakat, Fidya, Kaffarah, Hajj and Umrah savings, Islamic inheritance (Faraid), Qurbani, and Sadaqah. The Service is provided at no cost to users. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice.

2. Educational Purpose Only

All content and calculations provided by Mioo are strictly for educational and informational purposes. Mioo is a reference tool, not a religious authority. We do not issue fatwas (religious rulings). Our calculators implement well-established positions from classical Sunni jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali schools), but they cannot account for every individual circumstance.

For binding religious rulings on your specific situation — especially for complex cases involving business structures, blended families, multi-jurisdictional estates, or unusual assets — you must consult a qualified scholar or mufti in your locality. Mioo should be used as a starting point, not a final authority.

3. No Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • The calculations will be accurate, complete, or applicable to your specific situation
  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free at all times
  • Any errors or defects will be corrected
  • The prices, rates, or thresholds displayed (e.g., Nisab values, Fidya rates) reflect the most current rates — these are updated quarterly but markets fluctuate continuously

For critical calculations, verify results against primary sources and consult qualified professionals.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Mioo and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Errors in Zakat calculation leading to underpayment or overpayment
  • Incorrect inheritance distributions
  • Loss of data (though since calculations run in your browser, this risk is minimal)
  • Decisions made based on educational content

You use the Service at your own risk and bear full responsibility for any decisions made based on its outputs.

5. Intellectual Property

All original content on Mioo — including articles, calculator code, design elements, and the "Mioo" brand — is the property of Mioo and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may:

  • View, use, and share content for personal, non-commercial purposes
  • Print calculation results for your personal records
  • Link to our articles and calculators from other websites
  • Quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link back to the source

You may not:

  • Republish full articles or substantial portions without written permission
  • Scrape, mirror, or copy the website for commercial use
  • Use the Mioo brand or logo without authorization
  • Reverse-engineer or resell our calculator logic

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to disrupt, hack, or compromise the Service
  • Use automated tools to scrape or overload our servers
  • Misrepresent our content as your own
  • Submit false or misleading information through the contact form

7. Third-Party Links & Resources

Mioo may link to external websites or reference third-party sources (Hadith collections, scholarly works, financial APIs). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party websites. Visiting external links is at your own risk.

8. Advertising

Mioo may display advertisements (e.g., Google AdSense) to support operational costs. Advertisements are clearly distinguished from editorial content. We do not endorse any specific product or service advertised on our site. Clicking on ads is at your own discretion.

9. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time by updating this page. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We encourage periodic review.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable international and local laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith communication first, and formal proceedings only as a last resort.

11. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
